seventeen is a small place for your school. here is everything we collect, why, and what we will never do — in plain words, because you're the person it's about.
what we collect
- your phone number — to sign you in and keep one account per person
- your birthdate — once, to place you on the right side of the 16+ wall. it can't be changed, because the wall is the point
- your school email — to verify you actually go to your school
- your name, your one line, and your photos — the profile you choose to show
- what you post, send, and write — posts, emoji you give, letters, knocks
what we never collect
- we never log taps on the crisis lines (988, 741741, 911). those calls are yours alone
- we don't track your location — seventeen has no location features at all
- no advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers, no analytics resale
who sees what
- people under 18 and adults never see each other in seventeen — the wall is enforced everywhere, both directions
- anonymous posts show no name to anyone in the room. reports travel with the post; the reporter's name doesn't
- blocking is mutual disappearance — both of you vanish from each other's every surface
- a letter to you doesn't exist for you until its 8am
what we never do
- we never sell your data. to anyone. ever
- we never show you a fabricated number — every count in seventeen is real, and that promise extends to what we say here
- we don't do ads
deletion
ask and your account and its content are deleted — email orionjones99@gmail.com from the address on your account, or use delete account in the app. reports we're legally required to keep (threats, danger) are kept only as long as the law requires.
age
seventeen is for people 16 and up. we don't knowingly collect anything from anyone younger; an account that turns out to be under 16 is removed.
changes
if this page changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you inside the app before it takes effect — as a letter, like everything else.
